Doxycycline is an antibiotic. It kills a wide range of microorganisms and Streptococci and E. coli. Doxycycline is used to treat infections such as Lyme disease, Chlamydia, Ehrlichiosis, Pelvic Killarina, Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Lyme disease in dogs and cats, Rickettsial infections in dogs and cats, and bacterial infections of the ear, nose and throat.
Doxycycline is also used to prevent ulcers caused by the bacteria Proteus mirabilis (the active ingredient in the Proventil brand of medications). It also is used to treat urinary tract infections in women and other sexually transmitted diseases. Doxycycline is not recommended for use in children under the age of 8.
DOXYCYCLINE (TORQUE) CAPSULE contains Doxycycline which belongs to group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used for the management of various bacterial infections like that of chest, lung or nose (Ex. bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis), urinary tract (Ex. cystitis, urethritis), skin (Ex. acne), eyes or sexually transmitted diseases (Ex. gonorrhoea, syphilis, chlamydia).
DOXYCYCLINE (TORQUE) CAPSULE is also used to manage fevers associated with louse or tick bites and malaria (when chloroquine is ineffective). DOXYCYCLINE (TORQUE) CAPSULE can also be used to manage certain infections like scrub typhus (a disease carried by small insects), Rocky Mountain spotted fever, travellers’ diarrhoea, malaria and leptospirosis.
Avoid consumption of alcohol during management with DOXYCYCLINE (TORQUE) CAPSULE, as it may reduce the efficacy of this medicine. Before taking DOXYCYCLINE (TORQUE) CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you have myasthenia gravis, systemic lupus erythematosus, liver or kidney problems, porphyria, diarrhea or suspected syphilis.
DOXYCYCLINE (TORQUE) CAPSULE is not recommended for use in women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding. DOXYCYCLINE (TORQUE) CAPSULE should be used in children (8 years of age or less) only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks.
You should avoid exposure to strong sunlight while taking DOXYCYCLINE (TORQUE) CAPSULE as your skin may be more sensitive to sunburn than normal. The most common side effects of taking DOXYCYCLINE (TORQUE) CAPSULE are nausea, vomiting, joint pain, skin rash, fever, headache, etc. Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms get worse with time.
Your doctor will decide the dose of DOXYCYCLINE (TORQUE) CAPSULE, take as prescribed orCHAPTER 9. medications as take as prescribed by your doctor>£ Doxycycline Capsule1 capsule twice a day at approximately 4-hourly intervals.
DOXYCYCLINE CAPSULE is used to manage various bacterial infections in dogs, cats, and horses (Ex. malaria, gonorrhoea, syphilis).
Give doxycycline capsules twice a day at approximately 4-hourly intervals as prescribed to you.
To treat your infection, your doctor may recommend taking this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it.
Dosage of this medicine may vary depending on the underlying cause.
For treatment of bacterial infections, recommended dosage is as follows:

Only get the medication when you are ready to go, but not more than once every day.
The medicine should be given orally, but the medicine may be given by mouth, by injection into a muscle, or by inhalation from a fine aerosol. A clean and dry stomach or urinary tract (ex. bladder) may help.
After taking doxycycline capsules, and after having dinner, give the capsules to your doctor, at least one hour before going to bed.
You should not take doxycycline capsules for more than 3 days.
